THE ENTITY - 1982

Today as i was flicking through the channel i came across the channel called MOVIE MIX. At 01:00 The Entity was showing, I've never seen this movie so i thought of watching it all from start to finish.
This movie is based on a true story, a women is tormented by an invisible demon in this 1982 horror tale that Stars Barbara Hershey.

Here is the trailer:

The real story behind what happened to a women as this documentary explains what she went through.

My reaction to this movie wasn't incredibly big but i will say that All true stories have a big impact on my feelings towards people and their life, how they must have felt, where did the help come from to face what they had gone through.

A Documentary

QUESTIONNAIRE

This was the questionnaire i typed up and handed out to 16,17,18,19,30-50  year old individuals. This Questionnaire was created for my own idea on how different age groups see, feel about horror movies. The answers that i received back from the audience now gave me an idea on what i must consider to include in my horror trailers as the reason for creating a questionnaire, coming up with questions that will help me produce a trailer is to attract my target market depending on what genre i pick and what age group my trailer shall be for.

WooHooo Halloween is here!!

What is Halloween??

Halloween is a holiday that is celebrated on the night of October 31!   The word Halloween is a short version of All Hallows' Evening also known as Hallowe'en or All Hallows' Eve.

The 'Traditional activities' include trick-or-treating, bonfires, costume parties, visiting "haunted houses" and carving jack-o-lanterns. Irish and Scottish immigrants carried versions of the tradition to North America in the nineteenth century. Other western countries embraced the holiday in the late twentieth century including Ireland, the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and the United Kingdom as well as of Australia and New Zealand.

The festival would regularly involve bonfires as it is believed that the fires that attract the insects to the area which then attracts the bats to the area. Thats what is believed but everyone has their own views and beliefs such as is it and old tale that has been carried on and on.  There are additional attributes of the history of HALLOWEEN.

'What makes Halloween scary is the masks and costumes worn in an attempt to mimic evil spirits.' Trick-or-treating is an activity for the children that go around knocking on neighbours doors collecting sweets and chocolates.

DIFFERENT CAMERA TECHNIQUES

Doing more research into CAMERA ANGLES/SHOTS to help me have a clear mind on the different techniques using a camera by shooting different ways of angels and shots to add a scary affect to my filming once i begin to capture my own short video clips to put all together to create my trailer.

I found this video VERY helpful and impressive as if your unclear on what angles and shots there are, here is where to start from. Watching this will definitely help you remember all the angles and shots and what they are mostly used for.

MEDIA LANGUAGE

Media Language How you would use camera angles, shots that would tell the story.

I thought this YouTube video was very helpful from how good use of light and dark was included. This would be a good idea to test out different lighting, light for heaven, happy ending and darkness for evil and never ending evil.

While i was on YouTube searching for horror trailers i came across this movie 'I know what you did last summer'.  (1998)

I found this sort clip that begins with a slow pace which makes you think nothing is going to happen as its a calm feel to it. Not only does it gets viewers think something might happen (Plays with the mind) but once you keep watching this scene you'll understand what i mean by JUMPY.
WHY DON'T YOU FIND OUT, WATCH IT.

QUOTES

QUOTES:

'Aristutle' - "For tragedy is a representation, not of men, but of action and life, of happeniess and unhappiness and are bond up with action."

How i would explain this would be; Action need to represent life and the question of what's right or wrong is then relative (Perception)

'Mary Whitehouse' - "If violence is on TV the society will be violent"

How i would explain this would be; Mary believes that if you show violence through television and films, it influences all ages to act badly as they see it through TV!

OPENING CREDITS

TRIALER

TV PROGRAM - Paranormal Witness

The Plot:
Series brings to life the stories of people who have lived through paranormal experiences that defy explanation.

Here are a short YOUTUBE link to what this show is expected to be all about.

If anyone is interested in watching this then its on REALLY TV every Thursday!

Having to view on the real life of what goes on in people lives can affect views on people that have disbelief on the evil. This show can be upsetting at times as i've felt uncomfortable at times from how much the supernatural has affected families as i can imagine myself in their shoes.

Trip to the V&A MUSEUM

As a day out i thought of visiting the V&A to have a look around Costumes and i also came across a Skull face which had movement to it, liquid adding force into the skill as i saw a black fluid pass through the small holes that the skull had. This was very impressive and thought it would add an Gothic affect on my research into what scares people. This was a way of visually imagining what a skull really is and how you can change the thought of what a skull is and what it can be. (Wanting to play with the mind).

My preparation to gather information on what my audience think about HORROR

Today i started to think of many questions that would be asked many different age groups about how they feel about horror; how they see horror and many more questions that would help me gather the important facts from the audience

I'm still unclear on what age group my trailer will be aimed at. As long as i create a questionnaire that i can hand out to many ages, i will hopefully receive many questionnaires back to me to look into what ages more like HORROR movies and what age groups don't! It's seriously something important to look into very clearly as the trailer is what will give an big impact towards the viewers/ my audience/the targeted audience that i'll be thinking to aim at.

Here we go! Picking what possible questions that is best asked for horror, what questions will be most helpful for me when i begin to storyboard my trailer and all the other important things that include of the making of a horror trailer. I want to be successful in producing a brilliant impact on my target market so i want to ask as many questions that appeal to the target market.

MALE GAZE

Here is a sort clip from the movie 'Transformers' - The scene which shows a female and a male that gives the feels that the male sees the female as sexy even if she comes across as a boy type (She knows about cars.)

  • One of the most obvious results of Male Gaze is the way a (usually male) director/cameraman's interest in women informs his shots, leading to a focus on breasts, legs.
  • A subtle psychological effect of this is that, in visual media, audiences are primed to sympathies with, or at least respect, characters if the first prominent shot of them concentrates on their face. If it shows another body part the audience is more likely to see the character as a threat, or an object of desire. It isn't difficult to override this later, but the audience will usually experience it at least subconsciously as a twist.
  • The term also applies in other mediums, such as video games and comic books.
  • The object is well known for being a female.
  • Shown in a sexual way from a male's point of view.
  • Voyeurism - The compulsion to seek sexual gratification by secretively looking at sexual objects or acts; the actions of a peeping Tom.
Here is a photo taken from my Media Book. Your able to see some notes about MALE GAZE to a view from 'Jonothan Schreader'.

Here is a brainstorm of what i think men seem to present women.
